Dextroamphet CR vs non-CR side effects

Posted by leslieg on July 16, 2007, at 11:59:33

Short intro: I have depression and narcolepsy. I have been on Lexapro for a year. I take Ambien or Ambien CR at night.

I was on ritalin until about 2 months ago, when it stopped working and I was switched to dextroamphet. It works, but the drop when it wears off is more than ritalin had and with the change in my schedule over the summer I found I had to be hyper-vigilant in taking my next dose at the right time. So I was given dextroamphet CR.

The CR seems to give me more side-effects than the non-CR does. I get a tenseness in the back of my neck that I associate with seritonin -- similar to what I get when I take Imitrex (for migraines). I went to the eye doc when on the CR and my eye pressures were higher than they have ever been. (I'd seen him while on ritalin and there was no concern).

I'd love to know what's up. Will these symptoms fade in time, or should I give up on the CR? What is different about the formulation?
