Phillipa...
Cytomel caused me massive anxiety and wretched depression. Synthroid, in very tiny doses then usual, was better tolerated. I am just 'borderline' hypothyroid (I know...another weird term), but the thyroid replacement medications are wayyyy too strong for me. This is a bit of a risky move, but you can also get 'thyroid supplements' made from real animal thyroid, at the health food store. The problem with those is a) you are only getting very tiny doses of actual thyroid and b) sometimes those supplements don't contain any actual thyroid.
Thyroid replacement is also used in people who have cancer of the thyroid and have to have it completely removed. I think you will be fine...try not to worry about it too much.Best and Peace and Hope,
Jay
