Hi

I have used it a number of times, and 3 capsules of what in the UK is called Heminevirn, and I beleive Distanurine (a rather odd name), in other parts of Europe, will knock you out within half an hour. It is not like a benzodiazepine, where you can slowly dose off you really dont have a choice. The problem is that it irrates your eyes and nose, so for 15 minutes you cough and sneeze and rub your eyes, and may find you feel like you have an eye infection for a few days, but it does subside with continual use.

I think it is not used more often, as I beleive it is more difficult to stop than a benzodiazpines, almost like a barbiturate. It is only licensed to use as a sleep aid in the elderly, I did ask my psychiatric nurse once why this was the case and he said because it caused less respiratory depression, however, mix it with alcohol and you are risking you life, in a way again you would do with a benzo but to a much greater degree.

James
