OOps goofed. Here is what I know. Phillipa
the ambien CR package insert, which is their study of the drug that went in for approval to the FDA states that in two weeks of regular use the hours a person slept went from 7 to 5 per night. That's a 25% reduction in two weeks. They stopped their study at 3 weeks. Our double blind study went on for 6 months and showed no decrease in the number of hours of sleep, 70% of pats slepts 7-8 hours. Lunesta has never been shown to cause the kind of sleep walking that is reported in ambien. Lunesta, even after 12 months of nightly use showed no signs of tolerance or even rebound insomnia. In other words you can take lunesta regularly and assuming you aren't drinking coffee right up till bed time you can expect to get a good nights slee
