Hyperserotonergic model of anxiety

In this model, freewheel running produces adaptive changes in the 5-ht1a serotonin autoreceptor. It appears to increase the sensitivity of the autoreceptor which would reduce serotonin release.

Apparently this reduced serotonin release reduces anxiety.
