It had always bothered me, while on Lamictal, that it squashed me flat nicely, while I didn't think I needed squashing in the first place. And I had a running argument with the old pdoc about the side effects of the medication - why take something of limited benefits that's causing me more trouble? - that contributed to me leaving the practice. Quite sensibly, this new pdoc asked me to chart my mood before putting me back on a mood stabilizer; and he concurs with my therapist that the irritability and agitation and I am prone to is more likely due to the effects of PTSD.
The mood chart I found had moods ranked from 0 (being really bad) to 3 (being not noticeable) and was not too overly detailed to fill in every day, but gave a good snapshot of how I was feeling.
