Tardive dyskinesia is a movement disorder which happens late in the treatment. Tardive means late.
It will take at least 10 yrs to know the true rate of TD in the newer antipsychotics (AP's). Then there is the issue that AP's tend to supress TD so it is often missed. Till you go off the med or the TD finally breaks through.
