I think, though, that the metabolites of Nardil (which include phenethylamine) need to be considered in the antidepressant effect.

To the OP: while I'm not aware of any good test that would reveal plasma MAO inhibition in humans, the dose at which the full antidepressant effect kicks in, might, with Nardil, be somewhat obvious. One advantage of this drug.
