I have no problems with the quality of Nordic Naturals fish oil. The issue I was raising is that the chemical environment of an otherwise empty stomach is capable of yielding fish burps, despite the quality of the product ingested. The hydrochloric acid and lypoxygenase enzymes *can* degrade the polyunsaturates quite quickly. Taking fish oil concentrates is unnatural, as these oils are never found isolated in this way, in natural foodstuffs. The same goes for polyunsaturated vegetable oils.

If you don't take fish oil with food, uptake is also inhibited. Without other nutrients in the stomach, no signal to release bile acids from the gall bladder ensues, and a substantial amount of the fish oil may simply end up being excreted in the stool.

> Aside from fishy taste and smell, ingesting rancid oils has a negative effect on the human body. In vitro studies show that oxidated DHA, known as F4-neuroprostanes, have been detected in patients with Alzheimer’s disease at levels higher than in control groups. It has been determined that the formation of F4-neuroprostane might adversely effect neuronal function as a result of the alterations they induce in the biophysical properties of neuronal membranes.

Neuroprostane formation does not occur in the gut, so it is not relevant.

Which is precisely why I said to not take fish oil on an empty stomach.

Buying within the expiry date is not sufficient to exclude mishandling of the fish oil. Exposure to sunlight, heat, or both, could degrade the oil. A trusted vendor is also a factor to consider.

Which is the reason I am discussing the variables that might impact on others. You may have hypochlorhydria, for example. Individual experiences cannot be generalized to the population at large.
