Depakote/Seroquel and weight gain

Posted by twinch42085 on October 8, 2007, at 16:23:53

My pdoc prescribe me 250mg of valproic acid. I have not started it yet. I am taking 50mg of seroquel and I am wanting to know about weight gain. At 50mg would seroquel cause me to gain weight or have an increase in appetite or does this occur at higher dosages. My appetite has not increased at all. I barely eat anything. Is the seroquel supressing my appetite?

Has depakote been known to cause weight gain/appetite increase? I know that gaining weight isn't the best thing in the world but I think it would be a good thing for me because I suffer from crohns disease. I am 6'0 and weigh 185lbs but I am not for sure if the weight gain is a good idea or not. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions/advice.

thank you : )
