....and here's a link to my *long* discussion of that earlier this year. You can maybe ignore the things I said directly in response to the poster who started the thread, but consider the rest...

Also, if you search the archives, you'll find a few more threads, going maybe back to 2004 (?), not too long after it became widely available.
I am really curious, though, that you ask if you really need it and say you've been doing fine without....why are you being rx'd a med specifically for ADD if you didn't ask for it, or complain of symptoms? I'm guessing from your other meds, it's not for AD purposes, right?
One more thought, you may want to Google for "Strattera withdrawal symptoms" or something like that. You will find quite a few sobering collections of quite uncomfortable (to say the least) reports of rough withdrawal.....and plenty also of intolerable side effects when starting, too.
I'm not trying to scare you off the med - you'll see from my post (if you could stand to read through the epic!) that I did fine, and am still doing fine in that regard, so I'd be the last person to speak negatively of Strattera. Just thought it's be good - especially if it turns out you actually don't need/want this med - if you were aware of the bad reports. I never could relate to much of the things I read here and elsewhere online about bad experiences with this med, until just recently. About 2 weeks ago, I forgot to take care of my refill on time, so I ran out entirely and didn't take any for 3 days. I got some rude surprises in the form of extreme fatigue, body aches, mild nausea, a nagging headache, and weird tingling and flushing in different body parts. Not very fun - but, all that disappeared within hours of getting the refill and taking the usual dose. Now this was going *abruptly* from 80mg daily to zero - not a good plan, obviously. I'm speculating if I do ever want to taper down, if done gradually, I might have minimal problems, as I was able to up doses easily.
Hope it goes okay - be careful and well :-)
