My guess is that a lot of the reason it took Mathia so long to respond would be related to the high dose. In my case, it started kicking in within a couple of weeks. (Of course, I was adding it to another drug, Cymbalta, so that might have jump started it.)
For me, Wellbutrin is not all that robust on its own, but even on its own it is usually enough to keep me at least marginally functional. That's more than enough, considering the lack of side effects, to make it by far my favorite drug.
In fact, that's a big part of the reason I resisted trying EMSAM, despite my doctor's enthusiasm: I'd have to give up my good and trusted friend.
I've been taking 450mg of the XL for about three years now, and it still works as well as it ever did. I know, that's kinda faint praise, but it's still more than any other drug has been able to offer so far.
