Maxie depends on the type. A spontaneous one may cause no pain just difficulty breathing. Some with injury have blood in the lung so attached to suction til it is gone and resolves, some have no apparent injury to the best of my knowledge which is now quite rusty. Used to assist in many chest tube insertions in patients rooms with the docs the pain was from making the hole between ribs for the tube. Don't want to describe the proceedure. Phillipa
