After the disaster with Topamax my wife switched to Depakote. It worked better than Topamax. I can not remember what all the side effects are you may want to read up on it. The one side effect my wife had was hair thinning. I would start on a lower dose than recommended. My wife is taking half the recommended dose and it is working good.
