I was following up this with examples of good items that are made outside the US, I think that was missed. Teva is a large company in the only democracy in the Middle East, Israel. There's a huge techno-industrial complex in that country.

Otsuka Pharmaceuticals in Japan invented Rozerem, for another multinational if I recall.

Cambridge Labs (?) I forget makes our flu vaccine in England in concerto with a company here so there is enough supply because we can't even protect our population from the simplest thing -- a number are tossed every year now with a surplus because people don't get vaccinated against a possibly deadly common flu.

There will always be suspicion about FDA approved generics, and maybe not all are perfect but I can tell you that I seriously doubt there is "malice" at Teva.

Now as for China -- that lies a problem because it is such a vast country with impoverished people working in factories without oversight that there is a major problem, not one that the Chinese government isn't aware of completely, but one that they try to hastily correct to save face especially coming up to Beijing next year.

Unfortunately, or fortunately, however you look at it, we import more and more from China (not to mention clothes that come from other countries) -- it is turning from pure fascism to a capitalist autocracy. It will be the next superpower by the 22nd century unless we catch up and change our economy rapidly which isn't going to happen because our pocketbooks are fighting wars on at least two battlefronts, etc.
