I have taken Mirtazapine / Remeron on a number of occasions both alone and combined with other meds.

I agree with you that it is very sedating in the beginning. It will wear off over time and when you find the right dose. I have never tried to take below 30 mgs, but I have been told that low doses are more sedating.

No doc has ever told me to avoid alcohol while taking Remeron. It is my experience that a moderate alcohol consumption is no problem with Remeron.
