In terms of cost-consciousness, my pdoc prefers a "medical food" called Metan-X, which is also methylfolate, with the addition of some other things. (I wanna say B6 and B12, but can't remember off the top of my pointy head, and don't have time/energy to look up.) Metan-X is marketed towards diabetics, to normalize homocysteine levels, but my pdoc says he's having very good results using it as an adjunct to antidepressants -- and he always prescribes it to patients who take SAMe. Around here, Metan-X goes for about $25 per month.
I haven't tried Deplin myself, and I know it's higher in methylfolate than Metan-X is. But I figured I'd throw this information out there, in case it was helpful to someone. Based on SLS's posts and experience, I have asked about trying the Deplin, but my pdoc doesn't see a reason to change, so...
Hope that's helpful to someone.
