How do I know when to decrease or increase Nardil?

Posted by tapmonk on February 6, 2008, at 15:42:18

Hello,

Here's my Nardil dosage thus far (I'm taking it mostly for depression, but the social anxiety help has been an unexpected blessing):

12/10/200715mg
12/20/200730mg
12/24/200745mg
12/31/200760mg
1/14/200875mg

That famous best-feeling-ever thing on Nardil hit a few days after I upped the dose to 75mg and lasted for about 10-14 days.

Now I've settled back down, that euphoric feeling where life is just wonderful and I talk to 20 strangers a day is mostly gone. I'm still doing a whole lot better than I was before Nardil, but I'm not sure what to do now.

I had terrible dizziness and passed out a couple of times soon after I upped the dose to 75mg and I have experienced some extreme daytime fatigue, difficulty urinating, constipation and loss of interest in sex. The extreme dizziness/fainting has gotten much better in the past couple of weeks and the daytime fatigue has improved marginally (though this is by far still my #1 complaint about Nardil).

So, I'm really not sure what to do next. I feel pretty good, but certainly not nearly as good as those euphoric couple of weeks after I upped my dose to 75mg. Should I push my luck and try to up it to 90mg and get up to feeling as good as possible (though I worry about more side effects); should I stay where I am and wait for the side-effects to subside and just be happy with some pretty solid antidepressant effects or should I consider reducing back down to 60mg to hopefully get rid of the side-effects and leave myself more room to up the dose in the future?

Any advice anyone could provide would be SO MUCH appreciated!

Thanks!
