You should get your sugar checked and then decide wheather or not to take it. If you suger is not high and you take the metformin, you will pass out from low sugar, etc.

I take zyprexa and celexa(which is very similar to lexapro) and I take metformin ER. It helps with high sugar and the weight a little, because your using the sugar better.

Shouldn't take it with alcohol. You will get low sugar. Low enough sugar can kill you. I do drink a drink or two some times and not within several hours of taking the metformin.
