Valium or Klonopin for Periodic Limb Movement

Posted by Yasha on June 5, 2008, at 20:50:07

I don't know if this is the right place to enquire. I have Periodic Limb Movement Disorder, which is not a psychiatric disorder, but the poor sleep due to PLMD exacerbates depression and ADD, for which I take Effexor XR, and Concerta respectively. For the PLMD I have been taking Mirapex, but I currently experiencing an effect called augmentation, whereby the effects come on earlier in the evening, and the current dose is not as effective. I have been reading that both Valium and Klonopin are sometimes used to treat PLMD, because of the anti-convulsant properties of these drugs. Does anyone here have any experience with this? I still am not getting restful sleep, and I am planning to speak with my physician at my next appointment about modifying my treatment. Thanks!
