Amitriptyline and Remeron - are they similar??

Posted by jms600 on June 18, 2008, at 16:32:15

Hi everyone,

A couple of weeks back my psychiatrist put me on 75mg of Amitriptyline for depression, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, panic disorder, and social phobia.

I've noticed lately that I've become more irritable and short tempered. Is it the Amitriptyline causing it?

I've heard that Remeron, in high doses, can cause irritability due to it's affinity for Norepinephrine.

Does anyone know if Amitriptyline can cause irritability as it also inhibits Norepinephrine reuptake??

Thanks!
