I can certainly empathize with you. I'm just past several years of fertility treatments, including a lot of questions regarding my antidepressants.

Paxil is known as the most dangerous of the SSRIs in terms of pregnancy risk. It is certainly worth trying to get off of it in order to try to conceive. Speaking as someone who's just been through this sort of thing, I can only say that it's a very difficult equation to parse.

The agitation you're experiencing might, indeed, be caused by the Prozac, which is more activating than Paxil. The good news is that it's an effect which tends to diminish fairly rapidly for many people who take it. For me, the first few days to a week or so on Prozac leaves me feeling as though I'm about to twitch out of my skin. That goes away pretty fast, though -- by week three or four I'm usually over it. If you can stick it out for about six to eight weeks, you'll have a much better idea of whether or not the change will work for you.

Another option is to add something temporarily to help cope with the agitation while you cross-taper. I'm thinking something like Seroquel might help, or perhaps BuSpar. I'm not a big fan of benzos for this sort of thing, but that's personal opinion, and they are another option.

The point you're at right now is a tough place to be. I wish you the best with all of it, and hope that everything works out as you would wish and hope.

Best luck.
