All that, AND effective against depression? That's a tough order to fill.

Can you consider breaking that up into a medication which is effective against depression and other agents to combat any adverse effects? That might be what it takes to find something effective.

That isn't necessarily the case. It might be that Cymbalta is friendlier for you. You won't know unless you try.

Meanwhile, my suggestion would be to try to find an effective antidepressant and then try to counter the adverse effects. I know that you're in a space where that doesn't seem worth it, because that's a space I'm very familiar with myself. I spend a lot of time there.

Zoloft would be my first suggestion, because although it's an SSRI, it hasn't caused me nearly the grief that other SSRIs have caused. If it works, you can address adverse effects which crop up. Effexor has a good reputation around here with the better psychopharmacologists -- they consider it the work-horse, the reliable stand by medication. Cymbalta hasn't necessarily lived up to its promise, but it is like a kinder, gentler Effexor, and it's worth trying.

Augmenting the Wellbutrin with a low dose of Zoloft might be a good solution for you. If you're having any response at all to the Wellbutrin, a very low dose of Zoloft might be enough to kick that up a notch. I'd give that a try if you have had any response at all to the Wellbutrin -- and I know you're depressed, so maybe you're not aware if it's actually helping a little bit. One benefit of that is that low doses of Zoloft might not cause the side effects you're concerned about, and if it does, they can probably be countered more easily.

Good luck.
