I started taking Pristiq about 2 months ago after losing my job and falling into serious financial trouble due to family medical issues. I was already on Adderall XR for my seriously short attention span and forgetfulness and .25mg of Alprazolam 3x daily for anxiety and panic attacks.
This being my first anti-depressant medication, I wasn't sure what to expect. My doctor warned me of side-effects, and sure enough, the first week was hell. I had piercing headaches, stomach cramps and nasty irritability. Sometime between the second and third weeks, the side effects went away and I'm feeling much better physically. Emotionally I don't know if I feel much different. Could it be that the circumstances of my life are so overwhelming that I should just stick with therapy and avoid going the prescription medication route, or does it take an extended period of time before I notice a positive difference in regards to my severe depressive states?
Also, if I wake up groggy early in the morning and fall back asleep for a short while, completely forgetting if I took my 50mg of Pristiq, should I take another 50mg pill, or just wait it out until the next day? I'm doing pretty good at keeping my medicine journal, but this has happened twice now.
Any other advice?
Thanks!
