In reply to Paxil side effects?, posted by B2chica on August 5, 2008, at 10:36:27
Anorgasmia, difficulty getting started, difficulty maintaining, and great difficulty finishing were strong sexual side effects with me. Spouse was great at being patient and working hard to help with arousal, but it was a significant frustration that never went away in a year's time.
Paxil is generally a bit on the sedating relaxing side, though it is also fairly common to experience a surge of anxiety and jitteriness in the early weeks.
Paxil is generally a weight gainer.
After some initial insomnia, I eventually slept again, though it was a lousy light unrefreshing sleep.
Getting off Paxil is almost as hard as getting off Effexor. Other ssris are generally easier to get off than paxil.
Paxil is wonderful for some people, so do not let side effects of other people prevent a good look at it. I am merely sharing my experience with it and some generalities about it, which may or may not apply to you.
