In reply to Meds for Lack of Motivation + clomipramine quest, posted by elbee1 on December 12, 2008, at 13:24:06
It sounds like you have too much motivation, not too little. I have too little i have trouble getting organized instead of sitting around relaxing - i call this lack of motivation. What you have sounds more like OCD. Its could be the lamotrigine, though its much more likely to be the olanzapine, especially since you aren't taking an sri (in concert with one, it might be helpful, though not re: the lack fo motivation, if you have such a problem). Not sure why clomipramine offered, an sri would be less side effect, probably fluvoxamine or paroxetine, depending on liver enzyme interactions with your other meds; theyre the most sedating fo the ssris. Usually clomipramine is used if sris aren't strong enough. Not sure how bipolar you are, lamotrigine isn't very effective for stopping mania, and ssris (or tcas) can cause switching, and usually for ocd you need a high dose of the sri. Occasionally lithium is used for ocd, and its generally regarded as the best for bpI.
