I'm MDD/GAD. I've been on Wellbutrin for several months, and Nefazodone a bit over a week. The first night attempting to take 100mg was extremely weird (burning skin, nausea, headache), and left me with a terrible hangover. I dropped to 50mg twice a day, and worked up to 100mg twice a day. My problem is that this stuff makes me extremely tired, and quite stupid -- I stumble and weave a bit when I walk, I've broken several dishes through clumsiness, and I can't remember crap. Simple tasks take far longer than they should -- yesterday it took me half an hour to figure out how to get a duvet cover on. Getting out of bed is a chore. Oh, and I've gained 6 pounds. That can probably be blamed on the fatigue + the holidays.
So, these effects are obviously intolerable if they stick around -- I'm not going to be able to work very well, and really shouldn't be operating a motor vehicle, which I have to do for my job. I'm going to cut out my usual 2 drinks a night and see if that helps, but I don't know if that'll have any effect.
Has anyone else had these type of negative effects from Nefazodone? Did they cease, and if so, how long did it take?
This is all very frustrating -- SSRIs are off the table due to sexual side effects, Emsam kept me wired and sleepless, Remeron made me fat and angry, Buspar made me spacy, light therapy does nothing, exercise does nothing, etc. so really the only stuff that's left is increasing the Wellbutrin and maybe adding a benzo. There's also stuff like Lamictal, TCAs or neuroleptics, but TCAs seem to have nastier side effects, and neuroleptics, well -- I had someone in the family with serious tardive dyskinesia, and I do *not* want that.
