I have been on Geodon for over a year for a misdiagnosis of schizophrenia. Started at 20mg and max 320mg(10 months ago). 9 months ago I quit using heroin, coke, speed, and opiates. The doctors did not realize i had drug induced psychosis. I took myself down to 160mg without any withdrawals. I stayed at 160mg for 6 months and then down to 80mg. My insurance deductible is up on January 1st and I can no longer afford to take the 4 medications i am prescribed (Geodon, Lamictal, Valuim, and Ambien) I only have 80mg capsules of Geodon, 14 25mg pills of Lamictal, and I have been skipping valuim and ambien doses for my withdrawals. I have planned to break open the Geodon and eyeball 40mg for 2 weeks, 20mg for 2 weeks. Lamictal from 50mg to 25 for 4 days and cut the 25mg pills into 12.5 for 20days. I have geodon withdrawals every night! It reminds me to take my pill! Sometimes it can be so crippling physically that I feel unable to move and take the pill. One experiment I had taking myself from 80mg to 0mg for 3 days was a failure. I was in a constant panic, ticks, shakes, thoughts of doom, and by day 3 i was putting myself in contorted positions staring at walls or objects for hour long intervals... and i became unresponsive. My friend looked up withdrawal symptoms and I went into my primary care doctor the following day. He told me to continue taking it and see my psychiatrist. My psychiatrist has been out of town for 2 1/2 months and every psychiatrist on my insurance plan could not schedule me until Jan. I went back to my primary care dr. and he refused to tapper me safely off of Geodon for the fact he is not a psychiatrist and cannot do such things. I cannot afford 2 $800.00 drugs! the 4 of them total would be near $2200!
Questions?
Has anyone tapered off Geodon with a similar method and been successful? What type of withdrawal symptoms should i be looking forward to? Does anyone know what breaking it open and taking it powder form might cause? Does anyone have a suggestion as to getting off of these 4 medications in a safer fashion?
