Are you on EMSAM? It sounds like you are on the tablet. If your insurance can afford the really expensive patch, 4-12 mg/day, it might be more effective than the tablet. It was really effective for me with atypical depression and the dietary restrictions are much more forgiving with the EMSAM patch. However, stay away from energy drinks and keep your self "regular" Too much energy drinks and constipation led me to the "happy house" with serotonin syndrome like effects including very high blood pressure (175/140), medication induced hypomania and auditory perceptual hallucinations. ps. It's not fun "blowing up" the bathroom in the psych unit when bathroom privacy is limited and they stick you in a bedroom next to the nurses station! Better than getting an anemia in the medical part of the hospital, I happily choose the psych unit to get regular. It's a gross subject, but I have learned that the better you can try to eliminate constipation, the better you feel, the better the medications work, and weight gain is not as much as a side effect.
