I asked my psychiatrist if I could supplement w/ thyroid medication several years ago, and have tried a few different kinds (Synthroid and its generic; Armour; Cytomel -- not sure if I recall any difference. I'm thinking of going back to generic Synthroid because it has a lower copay for me, and I'm poor).

I think I've been on it for over a year, so I should know, but I can't really tell. Overall, my current other psych meds are the best yet, or nearly so, but I can't tell if the thyroid med is any help. That's part of why I'm thinking of trying levoxyl again instead of the Cytomel (because levoxyl is a lot cheaper, I think). But, I don't recall being able to tell if the other forms of thyroid meds have helped either. I guess I think they help a little, or I shouldn't really stay on them.
