It was a long time ago, maybe 10-15 years, there was a physician discussion in Dr Bobs Psychopharmacology Tips on Naltrexone augmentation. It was primarily for rejumping a pooped out ssri, preventing poopout, or augmentation of partial response. Doses were small, either 25mg or 50mg. Prozac seemed to be the best partner with Naltrexone. One doctor in particular was having good success with it.
Naltrexone is showing itself to be beneficial for a wide variety of things at doses of 1.5mg to 4.5mg taken at bedtime once a day. It blocks the opioid receptors temporarily for a few hours to trick them into making more opioids, but then resumes normal operation to allow them to work. Higher doses just block opioid completely with no benefit other than preventing getting high.
I found low dose naltrexone very calming. Actually it was probably the best anti-anxiety I've ever tried. Hard to tell on mood. Sometimes a little more glum, sometimes a little more joyful. I wasn't on it long enough though.
Years ago I did try adding 25mg Naltrexone to Prozac. It didn't do much except make things more numb and more calm. I remember looking forward to a rare glass of wine for a little buzz and it was like drinking Kool-Aid. Naltrexone blocked it completely.
