Glucophage and Anxiety

Posted by tiopenster on April 6, 2009, at 12:46:46

I started having phobias about 8 years - planes, being underground etc. Then 2.5 years ago, I had a panic attack out of nowhere in the middle of the night. This developed into generalized anxiety. I've racked my brain to find the cause of the two. The only thing that is correlated is Glucophage. I started taking it 8 years ago and I stopped it abruptly 1-2 weeks before I had the panic attack.

I have absolutely no stressors in life and I don't get worked up about things. The anxiety is just everpresent. I'm constantly thinking that something is wrong.

I've proven to be fairly treatment resistant. I've tried 29 different medications to treat the anxiety, but I've only had moderate success. I'm on 200mg of Lamictal, 750mg of Depakote and 10mg of Zyprexa and I'm still on 1000mg of Glucophage.

Does anyone know of a possible correlation? Their is only about 2 references to this on the web, so I'd love to hear from someone who knows more on this.
