AP's are not a good choice for social phobia based on what ive read.
Im fact, for atypical depressive with sever anxiety disorders like SAD or GAD, D2 antagonism is not a good idea. For me, using Seroquel at night for sleep (all i can get right now from dr), actually depresses me and adds to anxiety the next day from the night before. This is not uncommon among anxiety sufferers. In the beginning it seems Seroquel helped anxiety, to some extent, and carried on into the next day....but I dunno. Its different now. Name brand vs generic did help...less depression but it's still there.
But ya D2 is heavily implicated in social anxiety currently in the literature.
Memantine ive yet to try. Theoretically it should help (it does a variety of things including D2 inhibitor or something? cant remember exact mechanics-have to look up again). Some people report added energy. I'm gonna push the GP shortly on this one since its a safe mix with nardil.
I have a shitload of papers here, I can dig up some for you (many of which are not available online for free) if you want to have a look at some of the theory. But obsessing about literature theory isnt always the best approach. My recommendation is to give the theory a bit of attention then try and play with dose.
Babble mail me your email if you need papers....otherwise search pubmed:
(link: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/)
Search various terms: social phobia D2, anxiety dopamine, etc...
You will find tons of stuff...some contradictory but alot indicating dopamine plays a role.

-------> myco what do you mean about low D2 binding being implicated in social phobia?
