Lithium plus another mood stabilizer?

I have BP2 with treatment resistant depression. Even Lamictal will cause hypomania for me. I've found that a small amount (75-150mg) of Lithium to be better, but it is still a bit to stimulating. Is this totally odd? I was wandering if anyone else has had this experience and if they added another drug like valporate or Trileptal to tone down the activation.
