No, a trickle down conservative-minded view on the quality of life for those who should be able to live at a higher quality of life, especially either reaching that golden point, or who have disabilities giving them Medicaid which can be an equal mess.
Plain and simple, its cheaper for them to give an older lady with Parkinsons and psychosis haloperidol even if it is contraindicated and Seroquel, Zyprexa, and Clozaril are the only suited agents for someone who has mental issues due to or separate from medications taken for Parkinsons.
Why? You can stamp cheap tablets of haoperidol for nothing, never mind that its crippling or injuring to someone because of EPS and tardive symptoms that can show up in someone at that age and with Parkinsons.
Just an example. No it has nothing to do with the pharmaceutical industry other than the high cost of drugs and government bureaucracy buckling and dropping things just like private payers do, instead of drug cost caps like Canada has. Now do drug cost caps bring all the panacea that they sound like they should, no -- Canada isn't perfect either. But the way advertising of medications and how drug company representatives are handled I imagine is different.
