Hi.

> Do you think too low a dose would cause depression though?

I don't think the dosage has anything to do with your reaction. If you react badly to Nardil at 45mg, I can't imagine that this would disappear upon dosage increases. Of course, I don't know for sure, but that is my best guess. I think most any psychoactive substance has the possiblity of worsening depression. However, I have never heard of this happening with Nardil. I am not omnicient, though. The absolute worst reaction to a drug I ever experienced was to a type of MAOI known as a RIMA (because it is selective for MAO type A). The generic name is moclobemide, and it is sold under the names Mannerix and Aurorex. My hideous depressive reaction to moclobemide is not unique, though, as a few people on PB have reported having similar experiences.

> I'm not really depressed normally - just have ADD and SP.

Let us act under the premise that Nardil might be the offending agent. If you think you have the fortitude to raise the dosage to 60mg to find out for sure, I would say to make the dosage change now and see what happens. If the depression worsens, then I think your best choice is to discontinue the drug.

> I mean, I do get down sometimes, but nardil seems to amplify this and make it 1000x worse. Minor disappointments are turning into huge bummers.

Has food lost its taste? Do you still have the same interest in doing things that you have always had? How is your motivation to initiate activity? Do you have enough energy to complete tasks? Has your sleep or eating habits changed? Do you get dizzy or clumsy? Do you feel numb to your surroundings? Do you feel flat and emotionless? Crying or tearfulness? Do you find yourself staring into space? Heart palpitations? Changes in bowel function?

> I'm really starting to think nardil isn't for me.

I don't blame you.
