Since Remeron does not induce serotonin toxicity syndrome when combined with MAOIs, it is doubtful it has any meaningful effect on increasing serotonin. More than likely it is some other mechanism. It is primarily a super potent antihistamine compared to anything else it might do. The norepinephrine boost is also suspect, since it does not induce the typical signs of that...blood pressure, heart rate, etc.

But if it helps someone feel better, that is all that matters.
