GRAS means generally recognized as safe, by the FDA and USDA. That means you don't have to, e.g. test potatoes to put them in potato chips because they are GRAS.
So one has to view it with some skepticism, but there isn't anything wrong with flavonoids and flavonoid research, they have other uses.
Its basically like other medical foods that are patented to use amounts of available foods that you'd have to pay hundreds of dollars to get the same amount... of course, that's probably what the cost of a medical food is without prescription, at least in the low three figures.
It would be nice if they could bring back with a black box the COX-2 inhibitors (besides Celebrex) -- they worked for so many patients and the dropping of them because of some admittedly bad cases I think was between *ss protection and over prudence... its hard to say
I do have osteoarthritis from weight... which if I could lose some would probably go way down on my feet and lower extremities... I guess if its bad I have to use ibuprofen which I seem to be able to metabolize quite a fair amount.
