L-Taurine / L-Tyrosine as anti-anxiety?

Posted by jwpaine on June 25, 2009, at 21:27:47

I've battled social phobia and anxiety with the fear of "my face turning red" in public situations.

One of the things I take during my weight lifting bulking cycle is a creatine powder which also contains L-Taurine: 2000mg and L-Tyrosine: 500mg

About a half hour after taking the powder with a glass of water, I feel little to no anxiety or concern for flushing of the face.

With a bit of online research, it appears that "Taurine Induces Anti-Anxiety by Activating Strychnine-Sensitive Glycine Receptor"

Could I be onto something here? I have been on many different SSRI's, beta blockers, recently NARDIL and now 0.25mg of klonopin on days that I am feeling more anxious.

I don't believe this to be a placebo because the reduction of anxiety was self discovered post consumption of drink mix.

Any thoughts here?

Thanks,
John
