My pdoc gave me a scrip for 75mg buproprion to use as needed to offset sexual side effects of Celexa. At first I wrote it off bc I've tried it in conjunction with other meds (including Celexa at full dose of 40mgs)and it made me angry or sad or was marginally successful for sex.
Before asking for a stimulant instead I gave it a try and wow...my scattered brain came into line and my anxiety really dropped also. I had energy and motivation to go to the gym, but I didn't feel speedy. I FELT ABSOLUTELY NORMAL...what I imagine it might feel to be "normal and unmedicated."
I didn't have to mull over every word (or labor create a conversation) before letting it come out of my mouth. That is why I started I started medication to begin with but I've always assumed it was more about anxiety.
My doctor's away and today I noticed that the uplift and easiness has given way to a somewhat bored, sleepy, emptiness.
So my question is...
Is this the actual therapeutic effect of WB, or is it time to increase the dose (I started with 75mgs AM and then another pill no later than 5pm so I could sleep).
I don't want to chase this good feeling if it is more of an initial side effect.
Also, for those using it as a sexual add-on to SSRI, what dosage are you taking?
Does the XL and SR versions feel different? I don't want to be up all night on a sustained release, but I don't want to be popping pills and obsessing all day.
THANKS!
