I suppose it's possible, but not common. My sister has a severe panic disorder and gets a panic attack when she takes a vitamin C!! Perhaps a bit of a psychosomatic effect you've experienced, anticipatory anxiety in a way?
I've been taking clonazepam for 22 years, every day, religiously and believe it helps prevent a full-blown attack.... I still have some anxiety but it's very manageable.
I would not rely solely on the clonazepam to treat severe anxiety. It works good in combination with a ssri such as paxil or zoloft, IMO.
When I first started on it, I was prescribed 2mg, 4x/day until I found an A/D that worked on anxiety. Since then, I've been taking 0.5mg/3xday.
I look at clonazepam in a different light than many as far as it's classification, after all, it is an anticonvulsant. I believe that's why it has "staying" power when used long-term, more so than ativan or zanax. It may help you accept the drug and let it work it's magic by realizing it's a pretty safe and proven med. After all, kids have been taking it for many years to control their seizures.
I'd give it some time to work before considering other options. So, if you did experience a panic attack, tell yourself it could have been much worse had you not taking clonazepam!
I hope you feel well...... Rick
