'with the exception of clomipramine, tca's are generally safe with maoi's...both amitriptyline and nortriptyline have had no special adverse effects. both drugs are good hypnotics and safe in combination, but one should beginwith a low dose, 25 mg, if the patient is improving on an maoi but has insomnia.' this information is from an article written by drs cole and bodkin in 'current psychiatry', vol 1., no. 6/june 2002.
