Trazodone

Hi,
I want to get off Elavil, so I have recently tried trazodone for sleep.
I started with 50 mg of trazodone, but I didn't sleep for more than four hours.
So I took 100 mg of this drug on the second night.
I slept for many hours, but I felt absolutely dreadful the next morning.
I quit trazodone right away, but I've been thinking about this drug ever since.
Trazodone is the second-most frequently prescribed agent for insomnia in the U.S.
Obviously this drug is a good sleep aid for many people.
Now I have two options if I'm going to try trazodone again.
I can take 75 mg in the evening. Perhaps this will be the right dose.
The other option is to continue with 100 mg of trazodone.
The bad side effects might wear off in a couple of weeks.
I would like to hear from anyone who has been on trazodone.

P.S. I've been on Elavil for 37 years, but I have hated this drug for 36 years.
