This medication's history, testing, and efficacy is based on monotherapy. I think it defeats the purpose to take it in combination with other agents. It may work and it may not, it's just that it would be entering a whole different arena where the drug has not been looked at very much.
If it were me, I would first set my sights on a 2 to 3 month weaning strategy to get off the other meds.
The first thing that came to mind as you described your symptoms was, believe it or not, St Johns Wort. For mild depression with anxiety and insomnia, I don't see the urgency of entering the pharmaceutical world. But then, I don't know your history.
Almost everyone (I would say 8 out of 10) at natural forums who have mild to moderate depression report these results from St Johns Wort:
1. Normal feelings, no more depression.
2. Very minimal side effects.
3. Deep sleep.
4. Peace, no anxiety. And there are enough severe depression people who have been through a wide variety of psych meds who were also pleasantly stunned at how well SJW worked for them.
Its problems however are:
1. People who fail on one brand don't try another...kind of like failing one AD and not trying any others...brands are all different...some people find their magic on the 3rd or 4th brand, some on the 1st.
2. The dose size and time of day makes a big difference...someone not responding with a morning dose may very well respond when it is switched to evening, or when it is switched to multiple day doses. No matter how you look at, I personally do not like the idea of adding Agomelatine to your existing meds. You'll never know how it would have worked on its own. If it turns out to not be good, you'll never know that maybe it would have been magic without the complications of the other meds getting in its way.
Maybe? My gut instinct anyway.
If your current meds are not getting you at least 75% better than you were, then I would say they are not worth keeping. But that's just me. It's a treacherous road...add med #3, more side effects, not much more effect...add med#4, more side effects, a little better but not much...add med#5...until the water gets pretty deep and you wonder how you'll ever get out of it.
