Thanks for all your comments guys!

The cognitive problems are my main concern at this point. I already have memory and cognitive problems from the depression. It's odd how it helps some with this issue but hinders others...

I have atypical depression rather than bipolar - and my symptoms are mostly lack of motivation and concenration in addition to avoiding social contact.

And while Lamictal is prescribed for non-bipolar patients, I am having trouble getting myself to try it.

The St. John's Wort, so far, has been fairly energizing; it has also helped with mental clarity. I think I'm going to increase my dose of SJW and wait a couple more weeks before making a decision.
