Hi p-c:
I am just posting regarding our discussion above about SSRI's and that website that linked to some possible negative effects of them.
I respect and understand that it seems the better med studies come from single doctors, with no drug company influence. And I honestly can't stomach the deception that has been put out by drug companies. I do have to say though, that I think there is use for SSRI's, and especially SNRI's. Especially in combination with other meds, as I said, they saved my life.
I've had adverse reactions to meds, some SSRI's, especially at start. And the discontinuation thing, I know it is horrible for some people, but I think in many cases it is just their illness rebounding on them. I think often adding to a combo of meds, or switching, can resolve these problems. But people take 1 med for 2-4 months, and then just stop them and say they hate medications, and from my experience, I don't think that is giving a 'complete' fair trial. I think the biggest problem is that docs just put people on one popular med, like an SSRI, when I think all people should be using a mood stabilizer, or atypical antipsychotic (in a small dose) to start out. Most psych meds, used alone, don't seem to do people much good. (IMHO)
Anyhow, thanks for listening.
Take care,
Jay
