I can understand Klonopin as a nasal spray (just like there is a sub-lingual version) because it just means absorption is better (via the mucosal membranes). So really it is not more potent, it just acts faster and that's good especially for people who have sudden panic attacks.
But Xanax!? I hope they don't take that route because you are so right it is much more likely to be abused. Unlike Klonopin, it gives many people a mild high. Can you imagine if that high came instantly, with a spray!
I agree with you- its risky territory.
