To what extent do you feel that your anxiety and depression are caused or exacerbated by the reduction from 60 to 20 oxycodone?
If I am not mistaken, you have been at 20 for a little while.
There are a couple of things to say about opiate withdrawal (if this is applicable)....
1. Nothing is as helpful for withdrawal by a country mile as another opiate
2. Nothing much helps, although there are exceptions.
3. There is never a good time to do it.
4. It takes as long as it takes. But some things you say make me wonder if it is opiate withdrawal ('My depression is mixed with this intense fearful anxiety. At times feel like I am dying.' 'Whenever I close my eyes I fear I will die.') whereas other things you say confirm it ('However I think recent events may have triggered some form of ptsd' 'I'm overeating and just watch tv all day''My body is extremely sensitive and feels a lot of pain.')
It is a common experience that opiate withdrawal precipitates an emotional state of extreme sensitivity and instability, and that this is as difficult for the person withdrawing as the physical discomfort.
If it is related to your reduction, the withdrawal of the last bit will be the biggest challenge. 60mg oxycodone (that's what it is, no?) is a lot to withdraw from.
