are you dealing with a cognitive behavioural therapist? i experience the opposite problem - sometimes i'd just like to talk about everyday stuff, but since i have OCD, my therapist sees this as a way of ruminating and putting off more challenging exposures (which is totally true). anyway, maybe you'd have more success doing CBT (if you're not already). i know the center i deal with places a very strict emphasis on goal-orientated behaviour.
