Soma (carisoprodol)'s main metabolite is meprobamate (known as Miltown, a very popular tranquilizer back in the 50s).

It should be safe as long as you take it as prescribed, and don't mix it with alcohol. You should ask your pharm/doc if it interacts with any of your other meds you're taking (I assume they've already done this?)
